Curated summaries of new features and fixes by version (not raw commit history).

This build

You are using version 1.80.3 (build b549f72).

Version 1.80.3

Your imported collection counts right away

Released October 19, 2026

Fixed

  • Titles you bring in with a CSV import now count toward your XP and level as soon as the import finishes processing, instead of waiting until you have worked through every title left for review. Each title you resolve from review adds its XP straight away.
  • Imports that had already finished processing but were waiting on review now have their XP added, so your level reflects the collection already on your shelf.

Version 1.80.2

Physical media news on your home page

Released October 18, 2026

Changed

  • Your news feed now includes physical media release news from Blu-ray.com, High-Def Disc News and Home Theater Forum, plus Bloody Disgusting and RogerEbert.com, in place of a source that stopped publishing.
  • Every news source now gets a fair share of the feed. Each one with a story from the past week is included, and no single site can fill more than a fifth of it, so busy entertainment sites no longer push quieter disc news out.
  • The More headlines list on your home page now shows up to eight stories, one per site before any repeats, so sources without pictures, like Blu-ray.com, have room to appear.
  • News headlines and summaries now use a comma where a source wrote a long dash, to match the rest of Arkiv.

Fixed

  • The news feed was showing only one or two stories from each site because the rest were mistaken for duplicates. You now see the full range of recent stories.

Version 1.80.1

Know when a friend says yes

Released October 17, 2026

Added

  • You'll get an email when someone accepts your friend invite or request, with a button straight to their shelves. It follows your friend email setting, so turning friend emails off stops it too.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Internal reporting can now tell these friend emails apart from other email Arkiv sends.

Version 1.79.1

Leaner build and release checks

Released October 17, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Trimmed redundant work from our automated build and release checks, so updates keep reaching you without interruption.

Version 1.79.0

Quick add a title from your home page

Released October 17, 2026

Added

  • Adds a Quick add a title button on your home page, right beside My Collection (just Quick add on phones). Search for a title, confirm the format, and it is on your shelf without leaving home, whether it is a disc you just bought or one you have owned for years.
  • Search in the quick add can be narrowed to All, Films or TV, and starts on the search default you chose in Settings, so a film is not buried under TV shows with the same name.
  • Your default format is already picked when you confirm, and easy to change, so the 4K you just bought still goes in as 4K. If you have not set a default yet, you can save one as you add.
  • If you already own that title, or that TV season, a friendly note tells you which formats you have it on. It never stops you, so an upgrade or a second edition goes straight in.
  • The quick add stays open after each add, ready for the next disc. Tap a result itself to open the full Add to Shelf form for combo packs, box sets, editions and shelves.

Changed

  • We now note when the quick add is opened and when a copy is added from it, so we can tell whether it makes logging new purchases easier. What you type into search is never stored.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Clearer internal reporting on how often collectors add new purchases straight from the home page.

Version 1.78.8

Internal admin access update

Released October 17, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Admin tools can now be opened by more than one staff account.

Version 1.78.7

Internal reporting update

Released October 16, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Changed how internal dashboards count active collections, so a quiet stretch between purchases no longer reads as a loss, and kept a separate list of collectors to check in with.

Version 1.78.6

Friend activity tidy-up

Released October 15, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Tidied the friend activity code after the speed fix, with no change to what collectors see.

Version 1.78.5

Friend activity loads quickly

Released October 15, 2026

Changed

  • The Friends card now loads its activity in a fraction of a second, both when you flip it and as you scroll.

Version 1.78.4

Friend activity diagnostics

Released October 15, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Added a read-only maintenance tool for diagnosing slow friend activity.

Version 1.78.3

Faster friend activity, again

Released October 15, 2026

Changed

  • The Friends card now opens faster for collectors whose friends have imported large collections.

Version 1.78.2

Faster friend activity

Released October 15, 2026

Changed

  • The Friends card list, All recent activity, now loads faster, so each batch arrives without a long wait as you scroll.

Version 1.78.1

Smoother scrolling through friend activity

Released October 15, 2026

Changed

  • Scrolling through All recent activity on the Friends card is smoother. The next batch now loads before you reach the end of the list, so it no longer pauses at the bottom.

Version 1.78.0

See everything your friends did

Released October 14, 2026

Added

  • Adds a way to see all of your friends' recent activity from the Friends card on your home page. When there is more than the five items shown, All recent activity flips the card to a list of everything from the last 30 days, newest first, that loads more as you scroll. You can react to anything on it, just like on the front.

Changed

  • The link on the Friends card is now All recent activity. It flips the card instead of opening the Friends page, and it only appears when there is more to see. The Friends page is still one tap away in the navbar.

Version 1.77.2

Security update

Released October 14, 2026

Security

  • Applied an upstream security patch to the framework Arkiv is built on and the interface library it uses, closing flaws in how images are processed and how pages respond to requests. No action needed on your end.

Version 1.77.1

Clearer reporting on new collectors

Released October 13, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Clearer internal reporting on how quickly new collectors get their collections going, week by week.

Version 1.77.0

A community path on your home page

Released October 13, 2026

Added

  • Adds a short community path to your home page once your shelf reaches 25 copies. It walks you through turning on introductions, copying your invite link, making your first friend, giving or getting your first reaction, and accepting your first introduction, and lights each step as you go.
  • Arkiv now notes the first time you copy your invite link and the first time the path is shown to you, so it can show your progress and never repeat itself.

Changed

  • If you are still working through the pre-production checklist, you will see it finish first. The community path takes its place on your next visit, or right away if you have already hidden or dismissed the checklist.
  • You can hide the community path from home at any time and bring it back from Settings.

Version 1.76.0

A nudge toward friend introductions

Released October 12, 2026

Added

  • Adds a one-time email when your shelf passes 25 copies, inviting you to turn on introductions if you would like to meet collectors with a shelf like yours. It is sent once, never if introductions are already on, and friend emails can be turned off separately from other Arkiv email.

Changed

  • The welcome email now mentions friend introductions: once your shelf has a few titles, Arkiv can introduce you to collectors with similar taste. It stays off until you turn it on, and friends never see prices or purchase details.

Version 1.75.3

Format choices on CSV import

Released October 12, 2026

Fixed

  • On the CSV import mapping step, leaving a format blank to send those rows to review now does exactly that, even for a format Arkiv would normally recognise. Before, a recognised format you blanked was imported anyway.
  • A format choice now applies to every spelling of that label in your file, such as Steelbook and STEELBOOK, instead of only the first one.

Version 1.75.2

Clearer import reporting

Released October 12, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Import reporting now separates imports that finished without adding anything from healthy ones, so an empty import is no longer counted as a success.

Version 1.75.1

CSV files with multi-line cells

Released October 12, 2026

Fixed

  • CSV imports now read cells that span several lines, such as a plot or notes column from another collection app, as one row each. Before, a multi-line cell was cut into extra rows and pushed the columns after it out of place.

Version 1.75.0

A friendlier CSV import

Released October 12, 2026

Added

  • CSV imports no longer need a Year column. Without one, a title is added automatically when it matches exactly one film, and anything that could be more than one film goes to your review queue. The same goes for rows where the Year cell is empty. Arkiv tells you this before you start, because a wrong match is possible without a year.
  • The mapping step now checks the column you picked as Format. If most of its values are not formats (a column of barcodes or edition names, say), it warns you before the import runs. You can still go ahead.

Changed

  • The import page now lists the basics for your file: column names in the first row, one Format column with one format per row, and a Year column if you have one. The sample CSV matches.
  • The mapping step lists every format found in the column you choose, not just the first few rows, and stops you picking the same column for two fields.

Fixed

  • Files that are really just one column, such as a list of barcodes, are now turned away with a clear message instead of importing nothing.

Version 1.74.1

Steadier deploys

Released October 11, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • New versions of Arkiv are now built ahead of time instead of on the live server, so updates go out faster and no longer compete with the app for memory.

Version 1.74.0

Portraits that notice your favorite actors

Released October 11, 2026

Changed

  • Your collector portrait now notices the actors your shelf keeps coming back to. If half your collection stars the same lead, it will say so. Portraits refresh on their usual schedule, so yours will pick this up the next time it updates.
  • Collector portraits, collection insights and Production Notes now come from a newer AI model. They read a little more precisely and stick closer to what is actually on your shelf.
Admin changes (2)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Moved our AI writing features to a newer, more efficient model, with better handling when a request cannot be answered.
  • Clearer internal reporting on AI costs, including when the underlying model changes.

Version 1.73.0

A running list on the Add page

Released October 11, 2026

Added

  • The Add page now keeps a list of everything you add during a visit, newest first, with a link to each title and an Undo for anything you added by mistake. If adding a title took it off your Radar, Undo puts it back, notes and all. On a computer it sits beside the search box; on your phone it is a row of covers under it.
  • You can choose a poster when adding a title from the Add page, the same way you already could from your collection and Radar. TV seasons included.

Changed

  • Poster choices open faster: posters now load as you scroll to them instead of all at once.

Version 1.72.4

A supported runtime for the server

Released October 10, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Moved the server to a newer, supported runtime so it keeps getting security updates.

Version 1.72.3

Steadier sign-ins and a checklist that keeps up

Released October 10, 2026

Fixed

  • Opening a page after a while away no longer signs you out when your session is still valid.
  • The checklist on your home page now updates as soon as you add titles, resolve import reviews or finish a CSV import, with no refresh needed.

Security

  • Updated the libraries that connect the app to your collection, handle uploads, clean up formatted text and process images, closing several known security issues. No action needed on your end.
  • Applied an upstream security patch to the mapping library behind one of our internal tools, which shows the approximate locations of collectors.
Admin changes (3)

Nothing for you to do.

  • More of our behind-the-scenes checks now run automatically before every update ships.
  • Stronger automated checks around uploads, formatted text and request limits.
  • Security patches for the tools we use to write blog posts, compose emails and view internal diagrams.

Version 1.72.2

Tidier scheduling for our internal tools

Released October 9, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal tools now run on a steadier weekly schedule behind the scenes.

Version 1.72.1

Tidier tiles on your phone

Released October 9, 2026

Fixed

  • On a phone, opening View formats on a title no longer piles the watched check, rating and lend button on top of each other. Each format shows its name on one line and its marks underneath, and long edition names are shortened instead of running under the lend button.
  • The lend and return buttons on collection tiles are easier to tap on phones and tablets, and a tap never lands on the wrong copy.
  • Poster badges no longer overlap on small screens. Watched and Lent show as icons, and the rating shows just the score.
  • In list view on a phone, the Watched, rating, copies and Lent tags sit under the title instead of squeezing beside it.
  • While you choose titles in Set locations, the rating and box set badges step aside so the selection checkbox stays clear.
  • The same fixes apply to friend shelves and public shelf links.

Version 1.72.0

Know where every copy lives

Released October 7, 2026

Added

  • Locations. Give any copy a place, like a shelf, a room, a box in the attic or a home server, and it shows under the poster on your collection page and on each copy on the title page. Pick a location when you add a title or edit a copy, or type a new name to create one on the spot.
  • A combo pack or box set has one location for everything in it, since it counts as one physical copy.
  • Filter your collection page by one or more locations to see exactly what is in each place, or choose No location to find the copies that still need one.
  • Set a location for many titles at once: tap Set locations on your collection page, pick titles or select all results, then choose where they go. Arkiv tells you how many copies will move before anything changes.
  • Manage your locations in Settings: see how many copies each one holds, rename one and every copy follows, or delete one and its copies simply go back to having no location.
  • Your collection export now includes a location column.

Changed

  • Locations are private to you. Friends, friend activity and public shelf links never show them.

Version 1.71.4

A test collector for Friends

Released October 5, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal tools can now run a test collector account that adds, rates and reacts like a real friend, so we notice quickly when Friends breaks.

Version 1.71.3

New quarter, new goals

Released October 4, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal planning tools now track this quarter's goals, including how often collectors come back between purchases, and keep last quarter's results on record.

Version 1.71.2

Friends, explained

Released October 4, 2026

Changed

  • The Help page now has a Friends section covering invite links, introductions, what friends can and cannot see, reactions, removing and blocking, and friend emails.
  • The Getting Started tour and the Features page now include Friends, with screenshots of the friend page and the home Friends card.
  • The Arkiv home page for visitors now shows Friends, and its FAQ answers whether friends can see what you paid (they can't).

Version 1.71.1

Security update

Released October 4, 2026

Fixed

  • Opening a staff-only address no longer shows a brief flash of that page before sending you back home.

Security

  • Applied an upstream security patch to the framework Arkiv is built on, hardening how cover art and link preview images are served. No action needed on your end.

Version 1.71.0

Friends on Arkiv

Released October 1, 2026

Added

  • Friends. Share your personal invite link with collectors you know, and once they accept you can browse each other's shelves, see what they add, watch and rate, and spot the titles you both own.
  • A Friends card on your home page shows what your friends have been up to lately, a few friends at a time so one busy collector never fills it. It only appears when there is something new to see.
  • When a friend adds a stack of titles in one sitting, imports a collection, or brings in their Letterboxd ratings and watches, it shows as a single line with the real count. Anything on a shelf they hide from friends is left out of the count.
  • On a title you own or have on your Radar, you can now see which of your friends own it, in what format, and how they rated it.
  • If you choose to be introduced, Arkiv can now and then suggest another collector whose shelf looks a lot like yours, with a short note on what you have in common. You can connect or say no thanks, and they never find out you passed.
  • Hide any shelf from friends, like a gift list, and everything on it stays private.
  • React to what your friends add, watch and rate with 👍, ❤️ or 🔥, one tap from the Friends card on home or their page. You can change or take back a reaction any time, and only the friend you reacted to sees it.
  • Spot a friend's disc you want for yourself? React with Want it and the title lands on your Radar. Your friend sees that their add is the reason it's there.
  • See who reacted to your own activity right under it on your home page, and on each title's page. When friends have reacted since your last visit, a short note on home tells you who.
  • Achievements for friends: Plus One for your first friend, Word of Mouth for bringing a new collector to Arkiv, Kindred Shelves for connecting through an introduction, and two new ladders for reactions you give and reactions you get, from your first up to a thousand. You also earn XP for your first friend, a little for every reaction you give or get, and more for each collector you invite as they join, reach 10 copies and reach 25.

Changed

  • Friends never see prices, purchase details, condition, notes or lending. You can remove or block someone at any time, and you can turn friend emails off on their own without touching any other Arkiv email.
  • Removing someone also stops your invite link working for them. Changed your mind? Allow them again from Removed in your Friends settings, and your current link works for them without resetting it for everyone.

Fixed

  • Importing from Letterboxd no longer gives a 5-star rating to films you only marked as watched, and no longer clears a review you wrote in Arkiv when Letterboxd has no review for that film. A Letterboxd review you never rated now comes in as a review with no rating, and your stats leave it out of averages instead of counting it as a 5.
Admin changes (3)

Nothing for you to do.

  • New tools for suggesting introductions between collectors and for seeing whether friends bring people back between purchases.
  • New figures on how often friends react to each other and whether seeing a reaction brings people back.
  • The admin area is now organized into a few groups, so its navigation fits on one line again.

Version 1.70.0

See everything a release changed

Released September 29, 2026

Added

  • Release notes now show the work on our own internal tools too, tucked into a collapsed "Admin changes" section under each release, so you can see everything that shipped without it crowding out the changes that matter to you.

Changed

  • Past releases that used to carry a vague one-line note now say what actually changed. A few of them turned out to include fixes and privacy details worth knowing, and those now read as normal release notes.

Version 1.69.0

Clearer import tracking, and a Letterboxd fix

Released September 29, 2026

Fixed

  • Applying a Letterboxd import could, in rare cases, be recorded against a CSV import that had just finished instead. Each import now keeps its own record.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Better tools for keeping an eye on how imports are going.

Version 1.68.1

Friendlier feedback replies

Released September 28, 2026

Changed

  • Our email replies to your feedback now read like a normal email, with a sign-off so you know who wrote back.

Version 1.68.0

Know your feedback arrived

Released September 27, 2026

Added

  • Send feedback while signed in and you now get a confirmation email with a copy of what you sent, plus the addresses our reply will come from, so it does not get lost in your spam folder.

Changed

  • When you are signed in, the feedback form shows the email replies will go to (your account email) instead of asking you to type one.
  • If you send feedback while signed out, we now ask for your email so we can always reply.
  • After you send feedback, the page now tells you where our reply will go, which address it will come from, and to check your spam folder if you do not see it.

Version 1.67.0

Security update

Released September 25, 2026

Version 1.66.1

Counting visits from our social profiles

Released September 25, 2026

Changed

  • Visits that arrive through the links on our Instagram and X profiles are now counted as coming from those profiles. As with the rest of our visit counting, this uses no cookies and no third-party trackers.

Version 1.66.0

Planning our social posts

Released September 23, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • New tools for drafting, reviewing, and scheduling the posts we share on Instagram.

Version 1.65.1

More accurate locations and fairer request limits

Released September 20, 2026

Changed

  • We clarified how our Privacy Policy describes the approximate location we derive when you sign in.

Fixed

  • Your approximate location is now based on where you actually connect from, instead of the nearest network data centre. It updates the next time you sign in.
  • Request limits now apply to each visitor separately, so someone else's traffic can no longer slow down or block yours.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • More accurate visitor counts in the tools we use to see how people find Arkiv.

Version 1.65.0

A clearer approximate location

Released September 19, 2026

Changed

  • When you sign in, we now also keep the rough map position that comes with your approximate location, accurate to about a kilometre and never a precise address. Only Arkiv administrators can see it.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new way in our internal tools to see roughly where in the world collectors are.

Version 1.64.1

Upgrades under the hood

Released September 19, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Routine upgrades to the software Arkiv runs on.

Version 1.64.0

Search that finds the title you typed

Released September 18, 2026

Added

  • Discover, Add and the "Add to shelf" window on your collection page now have an All / Films / TV toggle next to the search box. Pick a default for it in Settings.
  • Search results on the Add page and in the "Add to shelf" window keep loading as you scroll, so you can reach every match instead of only the first few.
  • Type a year after a title, like "Crash 2004", on Discover, Add or in the "Add to shelf" window, and search looks for the film from that year. A small tag shows the year it used, and you can dismiss it.
  • When your selected type has no match but the other one does, search tells you and switches over in one tap.

Fixed

  • The exact title you type now shows up first. Some older films (for example New York, New York from 1977) used to be buried under newer, more popular titles or missing entirely.
  • Search no longer silently drops results: paging now reaches every result the count reports.

Version 1.63.5

Clearer sign-up source reporting

Released September 17, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Clearer internal reporting on where new collectors heard about Arkiv.

  • Shorter-term views in our internal reporting on how often collectors come back to add to their shelves.

Version 1.63.3

New logo, in the app and in your inbox

Released September 16, 2026

Changed

  • Updated the browser tab icon (and bookmark/home-screen icon) and the logo in the site header to match Arkiv's visual identity.
  • Account emails (verification, password reset, welcome) and emails from Arkiv now show the real logo instead of plain text.

Version 1.63.2

XP totals repaired

Released September 16, 2026

Fixed

  • Fixed XP totals that could fall behind after a large import finished. Affected accounts have been corrected.

Version 1.63.1

TV season matching fix for long-running shows

Released September 15, 2026

Fixed

  • CSV import could occasionally match a TV season box set to the wrong show when another show shared its exact title (mostly older, long-running series). Those rows now go to your review queue instead of importing under the wrong title.

Version 1.63.0

CSV import now recognizes TV season sets

Released September 14, 2026

Added

  • CSV collection import now matches TV season box sets (like "Alias: Season 1" or "Arrow: Complete Series") automatically, instead of sending nearly all of them to your review queue.
  • The review queue can now match TV shows too, not just films, with a season range or complete-series option when you pick a match.

Version 1.62.2

XP fix for large CSV imports

Released September 14, 2026

Fixed

  • When you reopened a finished CSV import to resolve titles from the review queue, those titles now earn XP like the rest of your collection.

Version 1.62.0

Version 1.61.11

Quicker barcode lookups

Released September 11, 2026

Changed

  • Barcode lookups no longer check a lookup service that has shut down, so a barcode with no match comes back a little faster.

Version 1.61.10

More accurate barcode-based title matches

Released September 11, 2026

Fixed

  • When Spine Scan falls back to reading a barcode instead of the cover, it now recognizes the movie title more reliably: packaging text like the studio name, disc count, or condition grade no longer confuses the match.

Version 1.61.9

More team photos

Released September 8, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • More photos in the rotating team gallery in our internal planning tools.

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal planning tools now show who Arkiv is built for, next to the goals it supports.

Version 1.61.1

Planning notes in one place

Released September 5, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our weekly planning notes now live in one place in our internal tools.

Version 1.61.0

A quick reason before you go

Released September 2, 2026

Added

  • Deleting your account now asks for a quick reason first, right alongside the existing confirmation step. It's the only thing we ask, deletion still happens immediately once you type DELETE, and you can always say you'd rather not share.

Version 1.60.0

Your export now carries everything Arkiv tracks

Released September 1, 2026

Added

  • Exporting your collection now includes country of origin, packaging, and slipcover for every copy (correctly showing what a combo pack or box set disc inherits, not a blank), which combo pack or box set each copy belongs to, TV season ranges, and your lending history.

Version 1.59.3

Combo packs and box sets count right in your activity

Released September 1, 2026

Fixed

  • Your activity card and Production Notes summary now count a combo pack or box set as one purchase, not one per format. A Blu-ray + Digital combo pack could previously show up as two separate adds, and Production Notes could describe it as picking up multiple editions.

Version 1.59.2

Security update

Released September 1, 2026

Security

  • Applied an upstream security patch to the image-processing library Arkiv uses when you upload an avatar or the team uploads site imagery. No action needed on your end.

Version 1.59.1

Security update

Released August 31, 2026

Security

  • Applied an upstream security patch to the framework Arkiv is built on, closing a flaw in how movie posters and cover art are optimized for your browser. No action needed on your end.

Version 1.59.0

Never lose a half-finished import

Released August 31, 2026

Added

  • If you upload a collection CSV and step away before confirming how its columns map to Arkiv, your home page and shelf now show a reminder with a one-tap way back to finish the import, or to cancel it if you have changed your mind.
  • The same reminder appears if your import ran but some titles still need your review: it stays visible until you wrap the import up, so nothing is left half-finished.

Changed

  • An import left waiting at the mapping step for more than two weeks is now tidied away automatically, so it no longer blocks you from starting a fresh upload.

Version 1.58.0

Counting visits to our homepage

Released August 31, 2026

Changed

  • We now count visits to our homepage and clicks on its sign-up button, so we can see how people find Arkiv. It is fully anonymous, uses no cookies or third-party trackers, and signed-in collectors are never counted.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal view of how many visitors go on to sign up.

Version 1.57.0

Smoother searching, and learning from first sessions

Released August 30, 2026

Changed

  • Searching for a title on the add page and the new-collector desk now waits for you to pause typing before it looks anything up, the way the rest of the app already does. Results feel calmer and arrive just as fast.
  • For accounts in their first 90 days, we now note a few basic first-session steps, such as whether a search found anything and whether the add form was opened, so we can see where new collectors get stuck. What you type into search is never stored.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal view of where new collectors' first sessions end.

Version 1.56.0

Seeing the path from sign-up to collection

Released August 30, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal view of each step from signing up to building a collection.

Version 1.55.1

Email pictures that fit

Released August 29, 2026

Fixed

  • Pictures in the emails we send now fit the width of the email instead of spilling past it.

Version 1.55.0

Fill in country and packaging across your whole shelf

Released August 25, 2026

Added

  • Country of origin, packaging and slipcover can now be set across many copies at once, from a new Bulk edit button above your collection. Pick the detail, pick the value, then either take your whole collection or search and choose the copies yourself.
  • Every copy shows what it currently reads before you commit, and says when that value is coming from its box set rather than the copy itself. Copies that already match are left alone rather than counted as changes.
  • Before anything is written, Arkiv tells you exactly how many copies will change, and names any box set that would end up split across two values.
  • One tap undoes the whole pass. Anything you corrected by hand afterwards keeps your correction rather than being rolled back with the rest.
  • Your last fill stays undoable after you close the window, so you can go and look at what changed and still change your mind. Undoing one offers you the fill before it.

Changed

  • The picker you use to add copies to a shelf now shows one card per physical copy, so a three-disc combo pack is one card instead of three. Copies you have chosen stay chosen when you change your search.
  • A part-finished selection is kept if you close the window or reload the page, so a long pass through a big collection can be done in more than one sitting.

Fixed

  • A copy that takes its country, packaging or slipcover from the box set it belongs to now shows that value on the film page, and says which set it comes from. Previously the row was missing entirely, even though the shelf, the filters and your stats all counted it.
  • The edit window now explains an inherited value when it comes from a combo pack, not just a box set.
  • Discs can no longer be added to a box set that is currently lent out, matching how adding a single copy already behaved.

Security

  • Closed a gap where a crafted request could file a copy into another collector's box set, and read that set's details back. Box sets are now checked against their owner on every path that accepts one.

Version 1.54.2

Smoother email writing

Released August 18, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Fixed a highlight that hid the cursor in the editor we use to write emails.

Version 1.54.1

Return visit chart fix

Released August 18, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Fixed an internal chart of how often collectors come back to add titles, which was only showing part of what it measured.

Version 1.54.0

Record where a disc is from and what it comes in

Released August 15, 2026

Added

  • Every copy can now carry a country of origin. Your Brazilian DVD stops being an indistinguishable duplicate of the UK one, and the full list is there, including territories that no longer exist, because a West German tape filed under Germany is simply wrong.
  • Packaging is its own field, with thirteen values from Standard case to Steelbook, Mediabook and Tin, plus a separate slipcover yes or no. Each one carries a one-line description, so you and every other collector pick the same value for the same object.
  • Two new charts on your Stats page: where your discs come from, and what they are packaged in. Both count physical copies rather than discs, so a three-format combo pack counts once, and both tell you how much of your shelf you have actually recorded.
  • Both dimensions filter your collection, and the counts above the grid narrow with it.

Changed

  • The collection filter and both new charts read the same value for the same copy, whether it is recorded on the disc, its combo pack or its box set.
  • Arkiv no longer suggests Steelbook as an edition when you add a copy, since it now has a proper home. Where you already have a packaging term sitting in an edition field, the edit form offers to move it across in one tap. Nothing moves unless you tap it.

Version 1.53.1

Sign-in page stability fix

Released August 15, 2026

Fixed

  • Fixed a rare loop where the sign-in page could keep reloading itself (with a new backdrop each time) on some network setups, making it hard to actually sign in. Thanks to the collector who reported it.

Version 1.53.0

A proper front door for Arkiv

Released August 9, 2026

Added

  • Arkiv now has a real homepage. Anyone who visits arkivhq.com without signing in gets a proper introduction to what Arkiv is, instead of a sign-in form.
  • A much easier link to share. Send someone the plain address and they can see what you are talking about before deciding whether to sign up.

Changed

  • Signing in still takes you straight to your collector’s desk, exactly as before.

Version 1.52.1

One address per public page

Released August 9, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Search engines now settle on a single address for each public Arkiv page.

Version 1.52.0

Monthly limits on AI costs

Released August 5, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A monthly spending limit and clearer cost reporting keep the AI-backed parts of Arkiv within budget as more collectors join.

Version 1.51.0

Mapping what makes Arkiv hard to copy

Released July 29, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal planning tools now lay out what makes Arkiv defensible over time.

Version 1.50.3

Planning page navigation fix

Released July 28, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal tools now open on the planning page as intended.

Version 1.50.2

Goals grouped by objective

Released July 28, 2026

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal planning tools now group our goals under the objectives they serve.

Version 1.50.1

Planning page fixes

Released July 28, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Fixed an empty progress bar and tightened up our internal planning tools.

Version 1.50.0

A home for our vision and goals

Released July 28, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal page that brings together Arkiv's vision, mission, and quarterly goals, scored live.

Version 1.49.0

Digital titles now come across when you import a collection

Released July 28, 2026

Added

  • Importing a collection from a CSV now recognizes digital titles by their store, iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, Amazon, Microsoft, PlayStation, or Movies Anywhere, and brings them in as digital copies with the store saved as where you got them.

Changed

  • Streaming-only titles (like Netflix or Hulu) are kept out of your owned collection and set aside for review, so an import never turns streaming access into an owned copy. In the review list they are now grouped together under their own heading, with a short explanation of why they are there and how to add one if you actually own it.

Fixed

  • When you resolve titles in an import's review list, Arkiv no longer pops an achievement celebration after each one. Achievements you earn from an import now show together as part of that single import moment, instead of one pop-up per title.
  • The home page no longer shows a "Building your collector portrait" message for collections that are not yet large enough for one. It now appears only when a portrait is genuinely on its way.

Version 1.48.2

Help page refresh: CSV import, Chronicle, and current locations

Released July 28, 2026

Changed

  • The Help page now covers importing a collection from a CSV and the Chronicle page, and its directions for imports, digital posters, exports, and preferences now match where those settings live today.

Version 1.48.1

Getting Started now points you to bulk CSV import

Released July 27, 2026

Changed

  • The Getting Started page now shows how to bring an existing collection over in one pass with a CSV. If you already track your shelf in a spreadsheet or another app, you can see the fast way to migrate hundreds or thousands of titles before adding a single disc by hand.

Version 1.48.0

A quick, one-tap way to tell us how you found Arkiv

Released July 27, 2026

Added

  • If you never answered "How did you hear about Arkiv?", you will see a quick one-tap prompt on your home page. Pick a source, add a note, or dismiss it. It is optional, it only appears once, and once you answer or dismiss it, it stays gone.

Version 1.47.1

Helping search engines find our blog

Released July 27, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Search engines can now discover and index our blog posts more reliably.

Version 1.47.0

Counting blog reads

Released July 26, 2026

Changed

  • We now count how often our blog posts are read, on our own servers with no cookies and no third-party trackers, so we can write more of what you find useful.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal view of how our blog posts are being read.

Version 1.46.0

Clearer usage reporting

Released July 26, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Better internal reporting on how collectors use Arkiv.

Version 1.45.1

Import reporting

Released July 23, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Better internal reporting on how imports are used and when they fail.

Version 1.45.0

Missed the signup question? Answer it in Settings

Released July 23, 2026

Added

  • If you never answered "How did you hear about Arkiv?" when you signed up, you can now tell us from Settings, under the Account tab. It is a one-time answer: once saved (at signup or later), it is set for good. Entirely optional, and we will not nag you about it.

Version 1.44.0

Tell us how you found Arkiv

Released July 22, 2026

Added

  • Signing up now includes an optional "How did you hear about Arkiv?" question. Pick a source from the list, name your own, or skip it entirely. Either way, creating your account stays exactly as quick as before.

Version 1.43.1

A welcome email that knows the way in

Released July 20, 2026

Changed

  • The welcome email new collectors receive after verifying their account now walks you into the guided start on your home page and points at the two fastest ways to build your collection: searching titles with Quick Add, or importing an existing catalogue from a CSV in one pass.

Version 1.43.0

Mark a title watched, no date required

Released July 20, 2026

Added

  • You can now mark a title as watched without picking a date. On a title's Watch History, tap "Mark watched (no date)" and it counts as seen, no calendar archaeology required. Each title keeps at most one undated watch, and dated rewatches still log alongside it as before.
  • Letterboxd imports stopped dropping undated watches. Films you marked watched on Letterboxd without a diary date used to be skipped entirely; on a first import they now come in as "watched, no date" instead of vanishing.

Version 1.42.1

Steadier home page with browser translation

Released July 20, 2026

Fixed

  • If you read Arkiv through your browser's translate feature (like Chrome's "translate this page"), the home page no longer flickers or briefly resets while your stats and activity load. Translation keeps working across the page; only the animated numbers opt out, and numbers read the same in any language.

Version 1.42.0

A guided start for new collectors

Released July 18, 2026

Added

  • New to Arkiv? Your home page now walks you through your first few titles. Search for a film or TV series and add it right there in one tap, or open it to choose your format, edition, and poster, one after another, without leaving the page. Getting your shelf off the ground is the first thing you see.
  • A short progress checklist marks your early milestones (your first title, your first five copies, and beyond) and points you toward features like your Collection DNA as you grow into them. When you finish the last one, the completed checklist stays put so you can enjoy the full bar, and it leaves when you dismiss it. You can also hide it any time from Settings.
  • Already have a big collection catalogued elsewhere? The guided start links straight to CSV import so you can bring everything in at once.

Version 1.41.0

Import your whole collection from a CSV

Released July 5, 2026

Added

  • If you already have your collection catalogued in a spreadsheet, you can now bring the whole thing into Arkiv in one pass. Go to Settings, then Collection import, upload a CSV with title, year, and format (a purchase date is optional), and Arkiv adds your copies for you.
  • You do not need to format your file a particular way. Arkiv reads your columns and formats, shows you what it detected, and lets you confirm or correct the mapping before anything is added. Titles it can match cleanly are added automatically; the handful it is unsure about wait in a short review queue where you pick the right film or skip it.
  • When the import finishes, your level and Collector Portrait update once to reflect everything you added, so a large import lands as a single moment rather than a flood of notifications.

Version 1.40.4

Add duplicate copies right from the Add page

Released July 3, 2026

Fixed

  • The Add page no longer stops you from adding a title you already own. If you have a second copy of the same disc, or a different edition in the same format, you can now add it straight from search or a spine scan, exactly like you already could from your Collection.

Version 1.40.3

An overall limit on scan costs

Released July 3, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • An overall monthly limit on cover and shelf scan costs across all accounts.

Version 1.40.2

More accurate cost estimates

Released July 3, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • More accurate estimates in the tools we use to track what running Arkiv costs.

Version 1.40.1

Email open counts fixed

Released July 2, 2026

Fixed

  • Fixed how we count opens of the announcement emails we send.

Version 1.40.0

A single view of running costs

Released July 1, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal view of what it costs to run Arkiv, in one place.

Version 1.39.7

A smoother Discover for new collections

Released June 30, 2026

Fixed

  • Fixed the Collection DNA panel on Discover for smaller collections. It now shows the correct number of titles left to unlock it (it briefly read "NaN"), and points you to the search bar to add more. The count also updates as soon as you add a title, instead of waiting for a full page reload.
  • Your personalised picks now appear on their own the moment they finish loading, instead of spinning and then timing out. If you do not have enough titles yet, Discover tells you how to get started rather than leaving you waiting.

Version 1.39.6

More security hardening

Released June 28, 2026

Security

  • Another round of behind-the-scenes security work: stronger protection for passwords and sign-in tokens, tighter limits on requests and the size of text you submit, and safer handling of exported files. Nothing you need to do.
  • The code you enter to pair a TV display is now 6 digits (previously 4) for a little more security.

Version 1.39.5

Account security hardening

Released June 28, 2026

Security

  • Stronger protection for your account. Repeated failed sign-in attempts now temporarily lock an account, with the wait growing each time, to slow down anyone trying to guess a password.
  • New passwords have to clear a higher bar (a longer minimum and no obvious or personal choices). Your current password keeps working as-is: the new rules apply only when you set or reset one.

Version 1.39.4

Privacy hardening

Released June 28, 2026

Security

  • More privacy protection behind the scenes. When an account is deleted, we no longer keep the email address at all: only a one-way fingerprint that lets us spot abuse, never the address itself.
  • Trimmed sensitive values out of the app so they are never shipped to your device, and tightened what can appear in our error reports.
  • Spelled out clearly on the Privacy page the limited sign-in location and account information we handle.

Version 1.39.3

Clearer Terms and Privacy Policy

Released June 28, 2026

Changed

  • Refreshed our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy so they are clearer about who runs Arkiv, where it is operated from, and how to reach us about a privacy question. They now set out the rights you have over your information, including how to access, export, correct, restrict, or delete it.
  • Added detail on the limited set of services we rely on to run Arkiv, how long we keep your data, and how it is protected. We also confirmed what we do not do: no ads, no selling your data, and no third-party tracking.

Version 1.39.2

Profile photo fix

Released June 14, 2026

Fixed

  • Adding or changing your profile photo works again. The preview in the cropper was being blocked before the upload could finish, so the whole flow failed.

Version 1.39.1

Security and reliability hardening

Released June 14, 2026

Changed

  • Your stats and recommendations are quicker and steadier under load, with light caching and sensible limits on how often heavy requests can run.

Security

  • A broad round of behind-the-scenes hardening. Anything you save that can hold rich formatting, like a blog post, is now cleaned on our servers before it is stored, so nothing harmful can be hidden inside it.
  • Tightened what the app is allowed to load and connect to while you use it, and capped how much data a single request can send, closing off common avenues for abuse.
  • Added daily spending safeguards to the metered and AI-backed features so a fault can no longer run up an unexpected bill, and refreshed the underlying components the app is built on to clear known security advisories.

Version 1.39.0

Portrait History

Released June 10, 2026

Added

  • Your Collector Portrait now has a history. A new Portrait History page shows how your collecting identity has changed over time, pairing each past portrait with the snapshot of your collection that produced it.
  • Quiet stretches fold into a single "steady" group so the timeline stays readable, while real turning points (becoming a new archetype, a shift in your taste, or crossing a collection milestone) stand out as their own marked moments.
  • To give the timeline depth from day one, your earlier turning points are reconstructed from when titles, reviews, and watches actually landed on your shelf, with a fresh portrait written for each. Reconstructed moments are clearly labelled.
  • A link from your Chronicle takes you straight there: "See how your portrait has evolved."

Version 1.38.1

Your Collector Portrait keeps up with your collection

Released June 8, 2026

Changed

  • The portrait now describes the size of your collection in rounded terms ("over 700 copies") and leans on proportions and rankings, so it still reads true the moment you add the next disc instead of quoting a count that is already out of date.

Fixed

  • Your archetype and Collector Portrait now update right after the things that shape them: adding or removing discs, writing a review or rating, logging a watch, building a shelf, or finishing a Letterboxd import. Previously these could lag and refresh only later, when something else happened to trigger it.
  • An established portrait can no longer go stale and sit unchanged. If a month passes, your next visit refreshes it.

Version 1.38.0

Production Notes

Released June 7, 2026

Added

  • Your desk now writes Production Notes: a short, specific summary of what you have been collecting and watching. Instead of just listing what you added, it looks for the story (a run on one director, a streak from a single decade, a string of bargain finds) and says it back to you.
  • Notes appear only when there is something new worth noting, so a quiet week will not generate filler. When a week is light, the note reaches back to cover your most recent active stretch and labels the exact dates it is talking about.
  • Every note is kept. A new Production Notes page lists your past summaries newest first, and each one opens to its full write-up.
  • The simple activity summary you are used to is still here, tucked behind a "Show rules-based summary" link whenever a Production Note is showing.

Version 1.37.1

Stats and scanner fixes

Released June 6, 2026

Fixed

  • The stats page no longer adds a stray, meaningless entry to your genre breakdown when a title has incomplete genre data.
  • Closing the barcode scanner now does its job exactly once. In some cases it could previously fire twice on close, which could double up an action like navigating away right after a scan.

Security

  • Visiting an unknown or incomplete web address on the Arkiv service now returns a clean, generic message instead of any technical path details.

Version 1.35.0

Better reporting on how Arkiv is growing

Released June 3, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Better internal reporting on how Arkiv is growing over time.

Version 1.34.2

Easier long emails in the composer

Released May 30, 2026

Changed

  • The email composer now keeps its formatting toolbar in view while you write. When the body gets long, the editing area scrolls on its own instead of pushing the toolbar off the top of the page, so bold, links, and the other controls are always a click away. This matches how the blog editor already works.

Version 1.34.1

Internal tools on mobile

Released May 30, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our internal tools now work properly on a phone.

Version 1.34.0

A home for email images

Released May 30, 2026

Admin changes (2)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A single place in our internal tools to store the images we use in emails, so images in emails you have already received keep working.
  • An image picker in the tool we use to write emails.

Version 1.33.0

Marketing email preferences

Released May 30, 2026

Added

  • You can now manage your marketing email preference directly from Settings. The Account tab shows a toggle to opt out of (or back into) Arkiv marketing emails without needing to use an unsubscribe link. Users whose address hard-bounced or was marked as spam see a note to contact support instead.

Version 1.32.1

Collector Portrait improvements

Released May 29, 2026

Changed

  • The Collector Portrait is now richer and more personal. It covers more angles on your collection and is written to feel like something you'd be glad to see on your profile.
  • Collection DNA stats now count physical copies correctly. Combo packs and box sets count as one copy, and format percentages reflect what you actually own on the shelf.
  • Your portrait now starts generating the moment you log in. The landing page shows a brief loading indicator while it builds, then reveals the portrait without needing a page refresh.

Version 1.32.0

Tracking what AI features cost

Released May 29, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • A new internal view of what the AI-backed parts of Arkiv cost to run.

Version 1.31.1

Bug fixes

Released May 28, 2026

Fixed

  • Collection DNA insights now appear on mobile. The numbered observations were visible on desktop but not on phones.

Version 1.31.0

AI Collection Insights

Released May 27, 2026

Added

  • Your Collection DNA page now shows three personalised observations about your shelf, written specifically for your collection rather than filled in from a template.
  • A Collector Portrait now appears on your Chronicle, profile, and public collector card: a two or three sentence description of your collecting identity based on how you collect and what your shelf says about you.

Version 1.30.0

Email campaigns

Released May 24, 2026

Added

  • Seven campaign types are available: re-engagement for dormant users, recognition for power users, verification reminders, onboarding nudges for new users with small collections, personalised collection stats digests, release narratives, and one-off custom messages.
  • Every campaign email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Clicking it immediately opts you out of future marketing emails without requiring a login.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • New tools for writing and sending emails to Arkiv collectors.

Version 1.29.3

Auth polish

Released May 23, 2026

Fixed

  • Signing out in one browser tab now updates the navigation bar in other open tabs immediately.

Version 1.29.2

Bug fixes

Released May 23, 2026

Fixed

  • Visiting a shared public shelf and then clicking through to a movie no longer shows you as signed in if you are not.

Version 1.29.1

Faster scrolling through your shelf

Released May 23, 2026

Changed

  • Scrolling through large collections is faster: title sorting now runs on the database instead of loading everything into memory first.
  • Movie posters load on demand as you scroll so the page starts faster with fewer initial requests.
  • The next page of titles begins loading a bit before you reach the bottom of the shelf, so there is less waiting between batches.

Version 1.29.0

Under the hood

Released May 22, 2026

Changed

  • Added reliability monitoring so issues are caught and investigated before they affect your shelf.

Version 1.28.4

Your shelf, freshened up

Released May 21, 2026

Changed

  • The collection page and all its cards have been visually refreshed to match the look and feel of the rest of the app. Same shelf, same data, cleaner finish.
  • Public shelves get the same visual refresh.

Version 1.28.3

Pick for Me, polished

Released May 21, 2026

Changed

  • The Pick for Me page has been freshened up visually to match the look and feel of the rest of the app.

Version 1.28.2

Polish pass

Released May 21, 2026

Changed

  • The Chronicle page animates in more richly: your collector level and tenure count up from zero, the XP bar fills smoothly, and the Archetype Spectrum and XP Activity Chart fade in as you scroll to them.
  • The Lent Out page has been freshened up visually to match the look and feel of the rest of the app.

Fixed

  • Motion animations on Chronicle and Achievements respect your system's reduce motion preference.
Admin changes (3)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Test accounts are now hidden by default in our internal account tools.
  • Counts in our internal account tools now match whichever filter is active.
  • Fixed buttons overflowing on a phone in our internal account tools.

Version 1.28.0

Welcome to Arkiv

Released May 19, 2026

Changed

  • The app is now called Arkiv. Same collection, same shelf, new name. You can find it going forward at arkivhq.com.
  • Every corner of the app reflects the new name. Nothing about how you track, browse, or manage your physical media has changed.

Version 1.27.0

Add page, redesigned

Released May 18, 2026

Changed

  • The Add page has been redesigned to match the visual language of the rest of the app. Cards and spacing now follow the same style as Stats, Achievements, and Shelves.
  • Search is now front and centre. The page opens directly into a search card so you can start typing right away.
  • Scanning has moved into a collapsible section below search, clearly labelled Experimental. Spine scan and Shelf scan are now tabs inside that section rather than a top-level toggle.

Version 1.26.0

Shelves, refreshed

Released May 18, 2026

Changed

  • The Shelves page has been redesigned to match the rest of the app. Cards, spacing, and animations now follow the same visual language as Stats and Achievements.
  • Each shelf card now shows a collage of up to four poster thumbnails from the titles on that shelf, so you can recognize a shelf at a glance instead of just reading its name.
  • The quick-add shelf templates at the top of the page have been updated to match the new card style.

Version 1.25.0

Know Your Shelf

Released May 18, 2026

Changed

  • The Stats page has been redesigned from the ground up. It now opens with "Know Your Shelf": a hero with a rotating collection insight, four headline numbers (total titles, watched %, collection value, and how many years of cinema your shelf spans), and a link to your achievements.
  • Your stats are now organized into four chapters: What You Own, How You Watch, Who Made It, and The Investment. Each chapter opens with a single editorial line about your specific collection.
  • A new Collection Health section near the bottom shows how complete your collection data is: purchase prices, purchase dates, and acquired-from information, each as a visual progress bar. Duplicate copies are flagged separately.
  • The sticky scope filter (All / Movies only / TV only) stays visible as you scroll, and shows which chapter you're currently reading.

Version 1.24.1

Bug fixes

Released May 18, 2026

Fixed

  • Unpublished blog posts no longer appear as cards in the news section on the home page. Previously they could surface for some users and show a broken link when tapped.

Version 1.24.0

Achievements redesigned

Released May 18, 2026

Changed

  • The Achievements page has a new hero layout. Your completion ring is now large and front-and-center, with your Collector Rank, level, and XP progress alongside it. The old cluster of small cards is gone.
  • A spotlight row below the hero shows your in-progress achievements and recent unlocks at a glance, so you can see what you're close to finishing without scrolling.
  • Achievement cards now have distinct visual styles for unlocked, in-progress, and locked states. Unlocked achievements have an amber glow; in-progress achievements have an emerald ring and border; locked achievements are visually receded.
  • Secret achievements are explained on the page. A dedicated section in the completion card shows how many you've unlocked and hints that more may be hidden.

Version 1.23.0

Discover redesigned

Released May 17, 2026

Added

  • Collection DNA now has a dedicated sidebar on the Discover page with animated decade and format bars, a top genre card, and a top director card. On desktop it sits alongside your picks and stays in view as you scroll. On mobile it appears above your picks.
  • The compact Collection DNA strip above your picks now shows your collector identity in one line: dominant format, top genres, and era. An insight pill appears when a strong pattern stands out.

Changed

  • The Discover page uses a two-column layout on desktop: personalised picks on the left, Collection DNA breakdown on the right.
  • The search bar now sits inline with the page heading and navigation links rather than in a separate centered block below the title.
  • Searching collapses the personalised panels immediately, and clearing the search box brings them back cleanly.

Fixed

  • Dismissing every pick in your feed no longer shows 'Add films to your shelf to unlock personalised picks.' It now tells you that you've dismissed all picks and to check back later.
  • The 'Finding picks for you' spinner now transitions to a 'Taking longer than expected' message with a retry button after 30 seconds.

Version 1.22.0

The Collector's Desk

Released May 17, 2026

Added

  • The home page is now the Collector's Desk — a card-based dashboard designed around how you actually use your collection, not just what's in it.
  • Your Collector Identity card shows your current XP level, progress toward the next, and your Collector Archetype. Tap it to see an XP breakdown by category.
  • The Arkiv Community card shows where your collection sits relative to other collectors, with an average comparison bar and your percentile ranking. Tap to see the most-collected films in the community alongside top format and decade trends.
  • The Activity card gives you a plain-English summary of the past month on your shelf. Tap to browse your full activity history grouped by date, with infinite scroll.
  • The growth sparkline shows how your collection has expanded over the last 12 months. Tap any bar to see titles added that month.
  • Tonight's Pick draws a random unwatched film from your collection and explains why it's a good pick for tonight — based on runtime, era, format, and day of the week. Tap the refresh icon for a different suggestion, or log it as watched directly from the card.
  • The news section now has filter tabs: All, High Resonance (films already on your shelf), and Reviews.
  • The Discover row shows your five most recent watches with the date you watched each, followed by personalised recommendations matched to your Collection DNA.

Changed

  • The achievements strip, top format, and top decade now link directly to the Achievements and Stats pages.

Version 1.20.0

Blog posts in Latest News

Released May 16, 2026

Added

  • Recent blog posts now appear in the Latest News section on the home page. Up to 2 published posts are shown below the featured story, each as a full-width panel with the cover image, title, and excerpt. Clicking a panel opens the full post.

Version 1.19.3

Blog editor improvements

Released May 16, 2026

Added

  • Images can now be inserted into blog post bodies directly from the toolbar. Click the Image button, pick a file, and it uploads and appears inline at the cursor. Drag-and-drop and paste still work too.
  • After inserting an image, click it to reveal size presets (25%, 50%, 75%, full width), position controls (left, center, right), and a border toggle in the toolbar.
  • Text alignment is now available in the blog editor. Left, center, right, and justify controls apply to the paragraph or heading where the cursor is.
  • The blog editor toolbar stays visible as you scroll through a long post. The content area scrolls independently, so formatting controls are always within reach.

Version 1.19.2

Blog cover image fix

Released May 16, 2026

Fixed

  • Replacing a blog post cover image now updates immediately in the editor and on the public post page without requiring a hard refresh.

Version 1.19.1

Achievement celebration timing

Released May 16, 2026

Fixed

  • Notification toasts now pause while an achievement celebration is on screen, giving you time to read them. They resume with a fresh timer after the celebration dismisses.

Version 1.19.0

Account deletion

Released May 16, 2026

Added

  • You can now delete your account from Settings. Open Account Management, click Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. Your collection, shelves, reviews, watch history, and all account data are permanently removed from Arkiv servers. A confirmation email is sent when deletion is complete.
  • The deletion screen offers one-click JSON and CSV exports so you can keep a copy of your collection before you go.

Version 1.18.0

Platform usage metrics

Released May 16, 2026

Added

  • Added platform usage metrics to help shape Arkiv based on how it is actually being used, such as which formats collectors favor, how engaged users are with the platform, and a general sense of where users are based. This data is used purely to make better product decisions, nothing more.

Version 1.17.2

Nav polish

Released May 16, 2026

Changed

  • The Add item in the top navigation has moved to the end of the list, after Chronicle. The order is now: Discover, Collection, Shelves, Chronicle, Add.

Version 1.17.1

Community format stat fix

Released May 15, 2026

Fixed

  • The "most popular format" stat in the Community section was counting every format inside a combo pack separately, which inflated Digital to the top. It now counts each combo pack as one copy and classifies it by its highest-tier physical format, so the stat reflects what collectors actually own.

Version 1.17.0

Blog

Released May 15, 2026

Added

  • Arkiv now has a blog at /blog. Posts cover collecting culture, platform news, and anything worth sharing with the community.
  • The blog index uses a magazine layout with a featured lead post and a grid of past articles. Each post has its own page with full Open Graph tags so links look great when shared.
  • Registered users can leave comments on published posts. Comments appear immediately after submitting.
  • An RSS feed is available at /blog/feed.xml for readers who want to subscribe.

Version 1.16.1

Mobile layout fix for copy action buttons

Released May 14, 2026

Fixed

  • The action buttons on the movie detail page (Add copy, Split on shelf, Exclude from poster cast, Delete all copies) were overflowing off the right edge of the screen on mobile. They now wrap cleanly onto a second line when space is tight.

Version 1.16.0

Maintenance banner

Released May 14, 2026

Added

  • The maintenance banner appears at the top of every page for all visitors when active and disappears automatically once the end time passes, or immediately when an admin deactivates it. No page refresh is needed.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • New tools for scheduling the site-wide maintenance banner.

Version 1.15.0

Community stats and collection benchmarks

Released May 13, 2026

Added

  • A new Community section on the home page shows platform-wide averages: average and median collection size, most popular format, most popular decade, and the most-collected films across all collectors.
  • The Stats page now includes a Community section with the same platform snapshot plus a "How you compare" panel that shows where your collection ranks among other Arkiv collectors across four metrics: unique titles, physical copies, format diversity, and watch completion.

Fixed

  • Format diversity on the Stats page was showing your total copy count instead of the number of distinct formats you own.
Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Test accounts can now be left out of community statistics.

Version 1.14.1

Backdrop rotation flash fix

Released May 12, 2026

Fixed

  • The backdrop rotation no longer flashes a brighter image when switching to the next backdrop. Transitions now crossfade cleanly without a momentary brightness spike.

Version 1.14.0

Poster cast exclusions and rotation filter

Released May 12, 2026

Added

  • Exclude any title from the digital poster rotation without removing it from your shelf. The option appears on the movie detail page next to the split-view toggle.
  • When a title is set to show copies individually (split view), each copy now has its own exclusion toggle, so you can cast the 4K steelbook and keep the standard Blu-ray off the rotation.
  • A new Rotation filter in Digital Posters settings (All / Films only / TV only) lets you limit what cycles on your TV to a single media type.

Version 1.13.2

Sign-up alerts for our team

Released May 2, 2026

Admin changes (1)

Nothing for you to do.

  • Our team now gets an email when a new account is created, so early sign-ups are noticed right away.

Version 1.13.1

Recent Activity TV season fix

Released May 2, 2026

Fixed

  • The Recent Activity recap now includes the season number when you add a TV series, so a single-season add correctly appears as "Silicon Valley Season 1" rather than just "Silicon Valley". Multi-season adds show a range like "Breaking Bad Seasons 1-3".
  • The recap now says "titles" instead of "films" when listing what you added or lent, which avoids mislabelling TV series.

Version 1.13.0

VHS and HD DVD format support

Released May 1, 2026

Added

  • VHS and HD DVD are now supported as physical formats. Pick them when adding or editing a title, in combo packs, in shelf rules, and in collection filters. Existing format options keep working as before.
  • Format Collector and Archivist achievements now count VHS and HD DVD toward your distinct-format total, so legacy collections finally get full credit. The Collection DNA panel also recognises and labels the new formats.
  • Activity feed haul cards, Chronicle milestones, and Collection DNA all show the new formats with the same care given to Blu-ray, 4K, and DVD. The first time you add a VHS or HD DVD title, you will earn a format-first milestone.

Changed

  • The format dropdown is now ordered 4K, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, DVD, HD DVD, VHS, Digital (physical formats first by recency, with digital trailing).
  • The 3D Blu-ray label is now consistent everywhere it appears. Previously it showed as "Blu-ray 3D" in a few places. No data is changing, only the display text.

Version 1.12.2

Discovery and Spending chart fixes

Released April 30, 2026

Fixed

  • Discovery recommendations now drop a film as soon as you add it to your collection or radar, instead of waiting for the next refresh. Titles already in your shelf or on your radar will no longer linger in your For You list.
  • The Spending Over Time chart on the Stats page no longer cuts off larger totals like $10,000 on the vertical axis. The axis labels and tooltip now show whole-dollar amounts (for example $10,000 instead of $10,000.00), since cents add no value at chart scale.

Version 1.12.1

Collector Rank card scrollbar polish

Released April 30, 2026

Fixed

  • The XP-by-category breakdown on the Collector Rank card (visible when you flip the card on the landing page) now uses a slim, on-theme scrollbar. On systems set to always show scrollbars, the previous default bar was wide enough to crowd the small card, especially on lower-resolution displays.

Version 1.12.0

Activity Feed

Released April 29, 2026

Added

  • Activity Feed on the landing page recaps your recent activity in a single sentence (for example: "In the last week you added 12 films including The Cutting Edge, Over the Top, and War Games"). The full date-grouped history is one tap away.
  • When you come back after a quiet stretch of two weeks or more, the recap leads with "After a quiet stretch..." so the focus stays on what you have been doing recently rather than what was paused.
  • Alerts toggle inside the recap card surfaces time-sensitive items in one place: films currently on loan, unacknowledged level-ups and achievements, and radar items with an approaching release date. Dismiss milestones with a Got it button; Undo brings them back.
  • The expanded feed groups events by date (Today, Yesterday, This Week, then by month) and supports infinite scroll for older history.
  • Level-up cards in the expanded feed reveal the XP breakdown that triggered the level, answering the question of where the XP came from.
  • Letterboxd imports now create a single Import Receipt card showing how many films were added, skipped, and how much XP was earned. XP is now granted when you apply an import.
  • When you add several films in one session, they collapse into a single Haul card instead of flooding the feed. Combo packs and box sets count as 1 item, even when they cover multiple formats.

Version 1.11.1

Getting Started and Features updated for Chronicle and Collector Rank

Released April 27, 2026

Changed

  • The Getting Started tour now includes a Chronicle section covering your Collector Rank, XP history, Collector Milestones, and Archetype Spectrum. It appears in the narrative walkthrough before sign-in and in the feature reference after sign-in.
  • The Features page now includes Chronicle in the full feature breakdown, with screenshots of the XP Activity chart, milestone timeline, and Archetype Spectrum.
  • Screenshots across the Getting Started tour and Features page are refreshed to reflect the updated navigation.

Version 1.11.0

Your Chronicle, Collector Rank, and focused navigation

Released April 27, 2026

Added

  • Your Chronicle is a personal narrative page at /chronicle that tells the story of your collection across three acts: where you started, how you have grown, and who you are as a collector today.
  • Collector Milestones: a dated timeline of key events reconstructed from your history, including your first disc, first format types, first review, first lending, achievement unlocks, and collection size milestones.
  • Archetype Spectrum: a six-axis chart showing how strongly each collector personality applies to you, from Completionist and Critic to Curator and Rewatcher.
  • Identity Gap: a forward-looking prompt beneath the Archetype Spectrum that names the specific action (more reviews, rewatches, or new formats) that would most efficiently shift your dominant archetype.
  • Shareable Collector Card: opt in from your Chronicle page to publish a public profile at /collector/[your-shelf-slug] showing your level, archetype, top genre, and a personal insight.
  • Collector Rank now has 30 levels of progression, from Newcomer to Legendary Collector. Every action that has always earned points now pushes you toward a named level visible on your profile.
  • Collector Archetype: Arkiv reads your collecting behaviour and assigns you a personality, Completionist, Curator, Critic, and others, based on how you actually use the app. No quiz, no self-selection. Your archetype updates as your habits evolve.
  • Real-time "+XP" notifications appear when you earn points: adding a film, writing a review, unlocking an achievement, lending a disc, and more. Each toast shows exactly what you earned and why.
  • Score breakdown on your profile: see a summary of where your XP came from across every category, so your level tells a story rather than just a number.

Changed

  • Navigation trimmed to five items: Discover, Collection, Shelves, Add, and Chronicle. Secondary tools like Stats, Lent, and Pick are now one tap away from the pages they relate to, keeping the top bar focused on where you spend your time.
  • The active navigation item is now highlighted so you can see at a glance which section you are in.
  • The score never drops. Removing a copy from your shelf does not reduce your Collector Rank: XP you earned stays with you as part of your collecting history.
  • Daily visit streaks now show a clear streak count and milestone bonuses in the XP notification so you know when a streak pays off.

Version 1.10.4

Getting Started tour, Story, Features, and Help redesign

Released April 25, 2026

Added

  • Getting Started — a guided walkthrough of Arkiv available before you sign in. Seven sections show each major feature in action: your collection, shelves, Radar, Stats, Picks, Digital Posters, and more. Reach it from the landing page or at /getting-started.
  • Our Story — the founder's personal account of how a physical film collection outgrew every tool available, and why that led to building Arkiv. Find it at /story.
  • Features — a detailed look at what Arkiv can do, one section per capability with screenshots. Useful for showing a fellow collector around or deciding whether Arkiv fits what you need, before committing to an account.
  • Feedback — submit a bug report, feature request, question, or general comment directly from the app at /feedback or via the footer.

Changed

  • Help is redesigned as a knowledge base with a sidebar table of contents. Jump directly to any topic — collection, shelves, Radar, Stats, Digital Posters, Lending, and more — without scrolling through the full page.
  • Release notes moved out of the top navigation bar. Access them from the Help page or your profile.
  • The "?" icon in the navigation bar now always opens the Help page.
  • The About page is retired. The founder story lives on at /story, and the feature overview at /features.

Version 1.10.3

Poster picker improvements and On My Radar parity

Released April 23, 2026

Added

  • On My Radar "Add to Shelf" now includes the poster art picker — choose your custom artwork right when adding a wishlist title to your collection, consistent with every other add flow in the app.

Changed

  • The poster header at the top of add and edit modals is now larger and updates as you browse the thumbnail strip, making it easier to evaluate artwork before saving.

Version 1.10.2

Profile redesign and Settings

Released April 23, 2026

Added

  • Settings page — configure your default quick-add format, manage your public shelf URL, reset your password, and access data export and Letterboxd import all in one place.
  • Your profile page now leads with your collection stats front and centre, making it easier to see your Collector Rank, total count, and recent activity at a glance.
  • Editing your profile name, bio, location, and Letterboxd username now saves each field automatically when you move on — no Save button required.
  • When you change your default format, an Undo option appears briefly in case of a misclick.
  • A sticky identity strip shows your name and Collector Rank as you scroll down your profile.

Changed

  • Release notes are now reachable from the navigation bar.

Version 1.10.1

Achievement notification reliability

Released April 23, 2026

Fixed

  • Achievement unlock pop-ups and toasts now appear correctly after box set edits, removals, and deletions — these actions could silently award badges without any notification.
  • Lending out a disc now correctly triggers achievement notifications, including the first-lending badge.
  • Milestone badges ("25% complete!", "50% complete!", etc.) now appear at most once per account and no longer re-fire on every new tab or browser session.
  • When you earn an achievement you now see both the brief amber toast and the full celebration pop-up together, so you cannot miss an unlock even while adding something to your shelf.

Version 1.10.0

Custom poster art, split copies, and shelf cover control

Released April 22, 2026

Added

  • Pick custom poster art for any copy in your collection — browse alternate TMDB artwork in the edit panel or right when adding a new title, so you can get the look right from the start.
  • Combo packs now support their own custom poster independently of the individual discs inside.
  • When a movie has more than one copy, you can split them into separate shelf cards — one per physical case — with each card showing that copy's own poster, format, and condition. Toggle split view on or off per movie from the title's detail page.
  • Designate a shelf cover on the detail page to choose which copy's art leads the grouped card when copies are not split.
  • Your chosen art shows on shelf cards, the public shelf, and the digital poster display.

Version 1.9.4

Smarter For You picks with specific match reasons

Released April 20, 2026

Changed

  • For You recommendations now weigh directors, cast, writers, composers, cinematographers, keywords, collections, and studios — not just genre — so the picks feel like they understand what you actually collect.
  • The reason line under each recommendation is now specific to why it matched: "Because you love Christopher Nolan", "Part of the Alien collection", or "Matches your taste for neo-noir and heist".
  • The feed also surfaces unowned films by your most-collected directors and unowned entries in your favourite franchises — so sequels, prequels, and lesser-known works from your top filmmakers show up even if they weren't in our external suggestion pool.

Version 1.9.3

Personalised picks and a refreshed home page

Released April 19, 2026

Added

  • Collection DNA — a taste profile on the Discover page that breaks down your top genres, favourite directors, decade spread, and format mix, with a one-line identity ("Blu-ray collector · Action & Crime · 80s era") always visible at the top.
  • For You feed on the Discover page — physical release recommendations scored against your Collection DNA, with amber highlights calling out titles that match your top genres and a reason line explaining each pick.
  • Worth adding to your shelf on the home page — a scrollable row of your top five picks so you can browse buy recommendations without leaving home.

Changed

  • Home page hero is now a two-column layout: tagline and call-to-action on the left, three equal-sized stat cards (Achievements, Collector Rank, Next Up) on the right — consistent sizing and clearer hierarchy.
  • Movie and copy counts moved inline beneath the My Collection button so the stat area stays uncluttered.

Version 1.9.2

Releases page redesigned as an editorial calendar

Released April 19, 2026

Added

  • A spotlight hero at the top of the Releases page cycles through upcoming physical titles dropping within the next two weeks — showing the movie description, release date, countdown, and a quick link to add each one to your Radar.
  • Browse the spotlight manually with prev/next arrows and dot indicators, or let it rotate on its own every few seconds.
  • Every release card now shows its release date and a plain-English countdown ("Tomorrow", "in 3 days") so you know at a glance when something drops — with a pulsing badge on the day it releases.

Changed

  • Format and date-range filters are now pill buttons instead of dropdowns, making your current selection visible without opening a menu.
  • Date group headers now carry a countdown or recency chip alongside a title count so you can orient yourself in the list instantly.
  • Page header is compact and left-aligned, consistent with the Radar page.
  • Loading state is now a skeleton that mirrors the page layout instead of a plain spinner.

Version 1.9.1

Steadier updates to the live site

Released April 19, 2026

Fixed

  • Fixes a publishing-side snag on the Collection page so new versions reach arkivhq.com reliably after we ship.

Version 1.9.0

TV on your shelf, clearer copy, and statistics that follow how you browse

Released April 18, 2026

Added

  • Add TV by season range or mark a full series, then track formats, lending, reviews, and watches alongside your films—one shelf for everything you own on disc.

Changed

  • Discovery, add flows, and collection pages use plain language about titles, films, and TV so the app reads the way collectors talk about what they own.
  • Statistics remembers whether you are looking at everything, films only, or TV only, and keeps headline counts, charts, and value-style figures aligned with that choice.
  • Help and About describe TV on the shelf next to the rest of today’s features so newcomers see the full picture.

Fixed

  • Duplicate-title callouts on Statistics treat TV rows sensibly on mixed shelves instead of misfiring against the wrong entries.
  • Statistics breakdowns handle odd or incomplete filter choices more gracefully instead of failing silently.
  • Runtime-style totals on Statistics stay honest when you are focused on TV only, so labels do not read like a misleading film-only marathon count.

Version 1.8.3

Clearer camera scans when adding from your shelf

Released April 17, 2026

Added

  • After you snap a spine photo, you can optionally crop tighter around the title before we read it—handy when the frame is busy.
  • When a product barcode is readable in the photo, the add flow can jump straight to a title lookup so you can skip retyping.
  • If you are offline when you scan, the app can keep the capture aside so you are less likely to lose a tricky shot.

Changed

  • Spine and shelf scans lean on smarter title matching behind the scenes, so suggested movies line up more often—especially for sequels, remakes, and alternate packaging titles.

Fixed

  • When the server cannot read any title from a scan, the app can fall back to on-device text reading so you still get a starting point for search instead of a dead end.

Version 1.8.2

Letterboxd imports are steadier on large libraries

Released April 16, 2026

Changed

  • Large Letterboxd imports now keep their progress updates flowing more reliably instead of stalling mid-run when status checks are frequent.
  • When status checks are temporarily limited, import progress checks now automatically slow down and recover more gracefully.

Fixed

  • Cancel import is more reliable as a recovery path during busy periods, so it is easier to stop a stuck run and start fresh.
  • Fixes a rare import failure where duplicate matches for the same film could stop processing before you reached the review step.

Version 1.8.1

Statistics steadier loading and clearer money

Released April 12, 2026

Changed

  • Dollar totals and purchase prices use thousands separators everywhere they appear in Statistics, on spending charts, and on movie copy details—so large amounts read like $1,300.93 instead of a long unbroken string.

Fixed

  • The Statistics page jumps less while your shelf loads in batches: the “loading the rest of your shelf” line stays visible between pages, and it eases away smoothly when loading finishes.

Version 1.8.0

Collection value estimates and catalog gaps on Statistics

Released April 12, 2026

Added

  • Statistics shows a ballpark collection value alongside what you actually paid, using simple format-based defaults only where a price is missing—so the headline stays honest while still giving a useful range.
  • At-a-glance cards call out how many titles are missing purchase price or “acquired from,” so you can spot gaps in your catalog metadata over time.

Changed

  • The first at-a-glance row leads with total movies, average movie age, total watches, and collection value, with clearer detail on the headline counts.
  • Shelf edits refresh Statistics automatically so totals and value stay in step after you add or change items.

Fixed

  • The Statistics dashboard stays put while large libraries finish loading in the background, with a small banner instead of the layout jumping or flashing empty.

Version 1.7.2

Statistics spending accuracy

Released April 12, 2026

Fixed

  • Spending Over Time on Statistics counts each combo pack and box set once, so the line matches your real purchase totals instead of multiplying by how many discs are in the pack.

Version 1.7.1

Statistics polish

Released April 12, 2026

Fixed

  • Donut chart tooltips on Statistics show the slice label and count clearly on the dark hover panel.
  • Editing box sets, combo packs, and single items stays consistent when purchase date is left blank or cleared.

Version 1.7.0

Statistics: deeper collection insights

Released April 11, 2026

Added

  • Statistics grows into a richer dashboard: new charts and breakdowns for directors, actors, studios, countries, content ratings, runtime, editions, and franchise progress, plus spending over time, watching pace, highlights, total runtime, and duplicate titles.
  • Tap bars or rows on supported charts to open a side panel of matching titles from your shelf.

Changed

  • At-a-glance summary, sticky section navigation, and rotating collection highlights make long stats pages easier to read.
  • Achievements now sits with your summary so milestones stay in reach without crowding the metric cards.

Fixed

  • New shelf items no longer default purchase date to today; clearing purchase date when editing stays cleared.
  • Bar charts on Statistics render with solid colors so bars stay visible in every browser.

Version 1.6.3

Poster cast auto-return polish

Released April 11, 2026

Fixed

  • Cast poster return-to-rotation scheduling is clearer when you have both a showtime and a runtime: the modal now defaults showtime empty, labels screening-end buffer vs delay-from-Cast, and shows about when rotation resumes.
  • Lobby displays check the return time on a short interval and when the tab becomes visible again, so a long single timer is less likely to be skipped by the browser.

Version 1.6.2

Digital poster cast: return to rotation

Released April 11, 2026

Added

  • When you cast a single-movie poster from a movie page, you can optionally send the TV back to your collection rotation after the screening (showtime plus runtime and a buffer you choose) or after a delay you set.

Changed

  • Showtime for casting and for the lobby poster tab uses your browser time picker (with clear where it helps), so you are not typing times by hand.

Version 1.6.1

Shelf Resonance hardening

Released April 11, 2026

Changed

  • Shelf Resonance scoring is faster and smoother — results appear with less stutter during the reveal animation.
  • Resonance breakdown panel now stays anchored to its button when you scroll or resize the window.

Fixed

  • A single story with an unexpected shape no longer prevents the rest of the feed from scoring.

Security

  • Tighter safeguards on franchise pattern evaluation, feed scoring requests, and profile data endpoints.

Version 1.6.0

Latest stories, Shelf Resonance, and collection depth

Released April 11, 2026
